Our Treatments

Acne, Rosacea and Thread Veins

These are very common conditions, the conditions are characterised by redness and flushing in the face, which can cause embarrassment for those who are affected.
Acne is a disorder of the sebaceous glands causing pimples and pustules (small fluid filled bumps), which can lead to scarring of the skin.

Rosacea is a disorder of the blood vessels in the skin causing flushing, persistent redness, pimples, visible blood vessels and in some cases thickening of the skin.

Thread veins or spider veins – are damaged veins and broken capillaries just below the skin. As you age, your skin loses collagen and becomes thinner, so when veins expand they become visible through your skin. Prominent thread veins can be inherited, but they are often caused by long term sun exposure, pregnancy, rosacea, alcohol, smoking and standing for long periods.

Acne, Rosacea and Thread Veins can be effectively treated with IPL (Intense Pulsed Light) laser technology. Intense pulsed light (IPL). The IPL laser works by shrinking the blood vessels.
Treatment is short, yet extremely effective. IPL treatment delivers improved results with each application reducing the number of visits needed. It takes 15 to 30 minutes per session.

IPL (Intense Pulsed Light) for hair removal

Phaser EPL delivers pulses of light into the skin at a specific wavelength which is selectively absorbed in the melanin pigment in the hair follicle. The light energy heats the pigment and effectively disables the hair follicle without damaging the surrounding skin tissue. Once treated the hairs will gradually slip out over the next seven to ten days leaving the skin smooth and hair free.

As with all light based treatments, IPL works by emitting a wavelength into the skin, which in the case of hair removal, targets pigment. It works in the same way black clothing absorbs heat on a hot day, versus white clothing which reflects it. The light is absorbed by the pigment in the hair and effectively disables the hair follicle without damaging the surrounding skin tissue. Once treated the hairs will gradually slip out over the next seven to ten days leaving the skin smooth and hair free.

Laser hair removal can help you get rid of unwanted hair on virtually any area of your body – including your:

  • Arms
  • Back
  • Cheeks
  • Chest
  • Chin
  • Ears
  • Eyebrows
  • Face
  • Intimates/bikini line
  • Legs
  • Lips
  • Nose
  • Underarm

Several sessions are required to achieve the best results however this does vary from person to person.

Fine lines and wrinkles

Ageing is a fact of life; signs of ageing are largely due to our body making less collagen as we get older. Collagen is the substance that gives our skin a firm and youthful appearance. It acts as a support structure for our skin, and gives shape and volume to our face.Wrinkles are not only caused through the ageing process but are also caused by a number of factors like; over exposure to the sun, smoking, city living, squinting at monitors, air pollution and even stress etc. However once the lines have appeared, there are several possible non-surgical treatments:

  • Wrinkle reducing injections (Botox)
  • Dermal Fillers
  • Chemical Peels
  • IPL (Intense Pulsed Light)

Crow’s feet – before & after

Wrinkle reducing injections (Botox)

Following a consultation, Wrinkle reducing injections (Botox) can be prescribed to temporarily relax the facial muscles in order to smooth out wrinkles and lines. The injections block the nerve impulses to the muscles so they relax, stopping them contracting. This causes lines and wrinkles to soften too. The areas that are most commonly treated are:

  • Frown lines
  • Horizontal forehead lines
  • Crow’s feet

Your treatment will generally take under 30 minutes, and you can usually get back to everyday life straight away:

  • Don’t forget that you’ll need ‘top ups’ roughly every four months if you want to maintain the smoother look.
  • Wrinkle reducing injections work best on fine lines and wrinkles. If yours are quite deep, dermal fillers might be more effective.

As Botox® is a prescription only medicine, we’ll also need to go through your medical history to be sure it’s suitable for you.

Dermal Fillers

Dermal fillers can be used to plump up your skin, smooth wrinkles and fill out deep lines.

If you’ve noticed that lines, wrinkles or sunken cheeks are making your face look tired or you feel that having smoother, generally younger looking skin would make you happier, then this treatment is far less invasive than having a facelift. Dermal fillers are for lines and wrinkles which are quite deep, meaning Botox® isn’t right for you. The filler is injected into specific areas. Areas that can be treated are:

  • cheek hollows
  • nose to mouth (peril oral) lines, around the mouth
  • lips,
  • forehead,
  • mouth to chin lines,
  • lines between the eyebrows (glabellar lines)
  • acne scars

Your treatment will generally take 45 minutes, and you can usually get back to everyday life straight away:

  • Don’t forget that you’ll need ‘top ups’ between 6 to 24 months.
  • No recovery time, any swelling or slight bruising usually disappears within 48 hours
  • We offer a variety of different filler types and can create a bespoke treatment package to help you get just the look you want.

Chemical Peels

Chemical facial peels aim to remove the dead skin cells from the skin’s surface which accumulate and clog up your skin over the years. This procedure will allow new healthy cells to grow back which creates smoother looking skin. This is an accelerated form of exfoliation to help revitalise skin tone and improve texture and can also be used to treat blemishes, scars, it will also help reduce the signs of ageing.

How facial peels work?

The acids within the peel work by bringing the pH of the skin to an optimum acidity level. This action chemically loosens the “glue” that binds the dead and damaged cells causing exfoliation and allow the promotion of new cell growth.

Procedure

The procedure involves, cleansing the skin and applying the chemical peel for several minutes. After 10 minutes the peel is removed.
The skin may be red and irritable, you may also experience flaking of the skin for a few days. It is recommended that a high factor sun block is used for a minimum of two weeks.
The results of the first chemical peel will be subtle to begin with but after the third treatment there will be a significant improvement in the appearance and texture of the skin.
It is advised to have a series of 3 chemical peels within eight weeks to achieve the best results.

Lip enhancements and Lip fillers

Getting lip fillers – which are also known as ‘lip enhancement’ or ‘lip augmentation’- will give you immediate results.

You might want to try lip fillers, which add or restore fullness to your lips, because your lips may have lost definition or you use make-up to enhance your natural pout. Lip enhancements and fillers last between three and six months and can give you a more defined smile with shapelier fuller lips.

Fillers made from natural or synthetic biocompatible material acts as a fat substitute to plump up the lip. One treatment is usually sufficient to produce the desired result. The results, however, may be temporary and require repeat injections.

  • The treatment takes about 30 minutes
  • You can choose the exact look you want, whether that’s a subtle change or a big difference
  • The fillers we use aren’t permanent, so you won’t be stuck with your new lips forever if you decide you don’t like them
  • Don’t forget you’ll need a top up every three to six months to maintain volume and definition

You may experience minimal discomfort for up to 48 hours this is common and aftercare advise will be given.
