New Patients

Welcome to Cheney Manor Dental Practice Limited. All potential patients are invited to visit the practice to take a look around before making an appointment with one of our team should they wish, we will all be happy to give a guided tour. You could collect a ‘Welcome Pack’ or we could send one to you if you would prefer.

Before your first visit

Prior to your first visit at Cheney Manor Dental Practice Limited, we will take your contact details over the phone and book an appointment for you. We’ll need to review your medical history for your own safety and will have a medical form available to for you to complete at your first visit. You will be able to give us any other information that we may need to know and record it along with all your other personal details.

Consultation

Your initial consultation is an opportunity for you to meet our dental team and discuss any concerns you have about your teeth and oral health. The dentist will carry out a thorough examination, and radiographs may be necessary to gain a full picture of any dental issues you may have. We have found that no two patients are alike – everyone has different goals and desires. Some people just want to chew comfortably again while others want to look younger and have a more attractive smile. Some people dread going to the dentist while others actually like it!

Our goal is to make sure you get what you want and need and to determine the current state of your dental health. This is not about scolding or lecturing but about finding a starting point! That is why your first visit takes around thirty minutes to ensure our time is comprehensive and unrushed. You will start with a conversation with one of our Dentists. We need to know where you’ve been, where you are now and to establish where you’d like to be? You need to know if we are the right place for you and if everyone is happy (which is usually the case) – then we proceed to carry out an extensive examination and routine x-rays with your permission.

After the examination, the dentist will talk to you about any problems they have found. Combining this with any concerns you may have raised yourself, we will discuss possible treatments and explain the costs and alternatives where applicable. You will be told all the pros and cons of each option, and once you’ve come to a decision, we will work with you to create a treatment plan. After we give you a full written estimate, we can begin to arrange treatment appointments.

For more complex cases, the dentist might need some time to review the situation and will arrange a second appointment where you will be provided with the treatment options as above. In cases like this, we can provide a detailed list of treatment options in writing so you can consider them in full and will be able to ask further questions before coming to a definitive treatment plan.
